Review & Giveaway: Virginia Cornhole Boards

If you are out and about around here, you know what corn hole is and you most likely play it often in the summer and fall months. You might play it at a tailgating party before a college football game or at a cookout in your backyard. Corn hole board and bag sets are a hot commodity around here. Virginia Cornhole Boards is a locally owned business who makes custom corn hole boards.

Framing of the boards are made with 2x4's and the tops are made from Blondewood. There legs are also made from 2x4's and fold up into the box for easier storage. They secure all there  boards with screws and use wood filler on all screw holes, and where the wood meets to give a... more seamless finished look!

They hand paint all of the designs on the boards and then seal each board (underneath as well) to give a nice shine and slick finish and to protect from weather and daily use!
Customers have the option of choosing any design they desire and boards are customized
Virginia Cornhole Boards with interpretation of the design choice. You are guaranteed to get a unique set that you won’t see anywhere else.

What Is Cornhole?

For those of you who have no clue what cornhole is, it is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching their corn bags at the cornhole platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.
Scoring can be swift and the lead may change hands several times in a match before the winner is decided.
The game is generally played tournament style with an individual or team being named the champion at the end of the tournament.

You can score a custom set from Virginia Cornhole Boards for around $150.  Each set comes with corn bags that match the colors of your custom design.

My thoughts:

My husband and I have been wanting to own a quality custom cornhole board set for a long time. We just never found the right time, so when I discovered Virginia Cornhole Boards I had to try out one of their sets. We were in awe at the photos on the site of previous boards they had created and weren’t disappointed when we received ours. I’ve tried cornhole boards in the past and they have been either too light and flimsy, or entirely too heavy and difficult to move around.  Our set was light enough to travel with and heavy enough to stay securely in place during play.

We requested a ETSU  set and Virginia Cornhole Boards came up with a unique design that turned out great. The quality of artwork is amazing and the durability of the boards and bags is spot on. The poly coating sometimes makes boards too slippery, but the ‘slide factor’ of these boards is just right. We also discovered that on past boards we used, when the bag was thrown and hit the board, it sounded like a gunshot was going off. When the bag hits these babies, it isn’t too loud and although we are in close quarters with our neighbors, disturbing them shouldn’t be an issue.

I HIGHLY recommend Virginia Cornhole Boards if you are considering a cornhole set purchase currently or in the near future. Be sure to Visit their facebook for pricing, options, testimonials and to view photos of boards they have created in the past.
