At any given time, many of God's saints are in prison. The prison may be literal, or it may be a product of circumstances. It can be financial debt, a broken relationship, a physical ailment, or any other consuming situation.
A huge problem in the church is when Christians look at their imprisoned brothers and sisters and assume that God has not favored them. Paul probably experienced such a phenomenon. We read his prison epistles and marvel at his suffering for the cause. But many of his contemporaries may not have marveled. They may have seen his trouble as a sign of God's disfavor and wondered why someone with so much potential had fallen to such depths.
God's prisons are full of His loved ones. He uses those experiences mightily, as He did with Paul, Joseph, John the Baptist, John the disciple, and numerous other biblical examples. In fact, many of those whom He used in powerful ways have experienced an imprisonment, captivity, or loneliness ordained directly by Him.
Are you in prison? You are probably not literally behind bars, but your circumstances may make you feel as if you are. Don't despair; it will not last. It is ordained by God and is designed either for your current witness or future usefulness. He is refining you and molding you into His image, the exact likeness of His crucified Son.

Keeping the ties strong while my hubby is away....
I have been coming across ideas and thought I share what I am doing. I want to keep him up to date on what is helping around us.
~ Every month I am going I am send him a blank calender page for him to write how he felt that day or something that he did , I am going to do the same and we can mail each other's to one another
~ I am sending him Nascar Results every week, with the points, etc.
~ I am sending him the monthly schedule and results for Boston Red Sox
~ Lots of photos~!
~ The kids draw him pictures, today I had them trace there hand to send him a huge, I figure we can do this ever so often to show how much they grown. Grace wants to mail him copies of there report cards too.
~ I print stuff from my facebook for him to read. I am going to print the 365 every month for him too.
~ I am making homemade word searches, crossword puzzles
~ I write love letters, what happened that day.
~ Anytime I make a big change in our home,etc. I am going to mail him the photos.
~ I found recipes based on items found in his commasionary.
~I send pages from his spanish book, bible studies, and verses.
I am open to other ideas too...

The Prison Wife...

The "Prison Wife" is the forgotten one, as she waits at home for her husband. Our society takes care of the sick, the dyimg, the homeless, but the prisoner's wife is alone and forgotten.
She is faced with insurmountable problems....financial, emotional, psychological, social, stigmatization, health problems to face alone, children to take care of. She keeps the household "together" until her husband comes home. She works, pays the bills, pays the mortgage or rent, the car payments, the insurances. She takes care of the children, the repairs for the house, and just about everything else under the sun. Holidays and birthdays come and go. She is alone and lonely, most often faced with depression.
Most prison wives find it difficult to even face another day. The prison wife lives in hiding because she is afraid the neighbors may find out. So she lies and says he is on a "business trip," to protect herself. After all, the neighbors would be shocked to know that a criminal's wife lives next door to them.
And what does she tell the children? No one wants to let his child play with a criminal's child.
When her husband leaves for prison, the wife goes through a period of "grieving." She goes through the same "grieving process" that a widow goes through. The only difference is that the widow can eventually move on, while the prison wife cannot. The prison wife is a "wife," but without a husband. She cannot go out and socialize, and it is difficult to make new friends, as she feels she is being "unfaithful" to her husband.
After a certain amount of time (months or even years), it is acceptable in our socity for the widow to step out, start dating and even remarry. The prison wife who is faithful and dedicated to her husband does not have this option. Some women wait years for their man to return - ten, even twenty or more years.
There are close to two million prisoners in our country....that makes me wonder just how many wives and loved ones are left behind and forgotten. We think about the prisoner, but rarely think about those left behind.....the wives, the children, the mothers, and the girlfriends, to name a few. Those loved ones, who did not commit a crime, except the crime of "loving a criminal." They did not commit a crime, and yet they are punished.

A much needed Family Update....
I thought I would update you on our family, it's been awhile. I guess the two biggest changes in our life right now are...
One is I have one week left of school in the CNA program. I will be taking the state test April 9th, and will be starting to look for a job this week.
The second big change is Bobby, my sweet hubby, is serving his time now. No he didn't commit a new crime, this is stuff from his past, that we are finally clearing up. I can not wait for it to all be done and over with. I miss him more then I could ever describe in words. Every day we were together, I feel more in love with him. Not only that He treated me like I was his princess, and I was very spoiled to all he did for me, and my babies. It's very hard at bedtime, he would rub my head till I fell asleep, and our feet were always wrapped around each others, while we slept. I miss him.
Avery is doing good in VA. He is been quite sick, and is struggling with his grades, but his behaviour at school has been better since he has been there. He is 13, and 5'6 now, almost as tall as me. He is HUGE!
Grace is in 3rd grade, and is my All A honor roll always child. She has over 500 AR points for this school year! She makes me proud! She wants to eb a VET when she grows up, and a model on the weekends.
Aidan is doing amazing, and has made leaps and bounds this school year. He is in a regular classroom for part of the day now, and is reading chapter books ( WOW). He wanted to play soccer this spring but our budget is not allowing for extra activites for anyone right now.
We are dealing with some big changes and we all miss Bobby. Keep us in your prayers.

Thankful Thursday:2/10/11
Today I am thankful for my husband... I am thankful God has allowed him to be here now, I am thankful for all he does for me, and my kids. I am thankful that he puts God in his life first, and takes his family to church. I am thankful that he strives to show me love every day.. from making me coffee or brownies ( mmm ) or writing me a love letter. We aren't perfect, and we definitely have had to work hard to stay together through all we have been through. I love him. He is the my true love.

2008 Memorable Moments for Katy
So here is the top 10 Moments in my life in 2008.......
1) Flying in a airplane by myself for my first without children vacation as an adult to Las Vegas, NV, where I partied like a rock star, and realized I could never live a life like that...
2) Realizing I was pretending to be someone I am not in order to make someone love me, and then letting it go to only find the love of my life, in the most random way ever.
3) Losing enough weight to be under the 200 pound mark!!
4) Falling in love with Bobby, and getting engaged, and getting married!! Watching a man fall in love with my children, and be the best daddy ever!!
5) Our Van being totalled, and the fact my children were safe and sound, and not dead!
6) I have made many new friends this year!! And lost many I cared about who I thought were friends, but they were not!
7) Flying with 3 children to San Diego Ca, and not causing a plane wreck. Then taking my kids to Disneyland, to see the magic in there eyes.
8) Growing Closer to God, and realizing what Christian means, and what church is all about, finding a church I feel comfortable and loved at. And realizing many people say there Christians, but are not. And seeing how some people use that as a reason to be rude, nosey,snobby, and ugly.
9) Watching Aidan's transformation, and how much he has changed this last year!! Helping our community become more aware of Autism, and it's challenges.
10) All three of my children are in school!!! Wahhhh I have no babies!!! Watching Grace change and mature, and Avery started middle school. Seeing Avery become a caring young man, and not so angry all the time.

Sneek Peek....
Our wedding was beautiful, and our girls stole the show.....
It was worth every minute, penny, and the sore back and feet..... And Bobby told me
that it was worth all the hard work just to see me walk down the aile in my dress. He said I was just so beautiful ( yea I cried when he said this), and I asked him did you get teary eyed? And he replied, a little bit.
Thank you to all who came and helped out. We know you all mean so much to us, those would brave the cold weather, to see us wed!! Thank you again!!
And I hope all the food was YUMMY!
And to those who think you can't do your own wedding, WE DID!!

Getting ready for Christmas
and making new family traditions with Bobby, we have had a busy weekend, except for me coming down with some kind of stomach flu. Friday we went to Winston, and took the kids to the Tanglewood Festival of Lights. Last night Bobby put up the tree, and I tried to help decorate, I basically sat and handed out the ornaments, and took some photos. Happy Thanksgiving....
Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends and family, and those who read my blog. My life has changed a lot this past year, but as always I have many things to be thankful for, and even more so this year!
I am Thankful for...
Jesus Christ, who died for our sins, and is the only way to heaven.
God, our father, for his love
Bobby, I don't even think I can go into how deeply I am thankful for this man. He's so wonderful, he cooks, cleans, fix things, rubs my head till I go to sleep, holds me every night, is a wonderful father to my children and his, not to mention he loves Thanksgiving and Christmas as much as I DO!
Our children, Avery,Grace,Aidan,Hailey, and Vanessa... what a beautiful healthy group of children, how lucky are we to have such smart and wonderful children to raise.
I am thankful for having a job, for living in a small town, and in a wonderful place like Galax, for friends, for health, for family, and especially let's not forget chocolate. I am thankful for living in the United States, and very thankful for our freedom.
And now its time to play Pigims and injians as Aidan says,( Did you know they came here on a big boat?).....
