Hometown Holler: WarmURSenses with Scentsy

It's time for another Hometown Holler, today we are going to talk with Tiffani, a Scentsy consulant.

Tiffani tell us about yourself.

My name is Tiffani. I'm a 26 year old stay a home mother of a beautiful little boy named Braylon. I am currently enrolled at Northeast State College studying to be a registered nurse. I am addicted to FREE stuff! Which is probably why I give so much of it away to my Scentsy hostesses! I am always on Freecycle, or couponing blogs, and it's hard for me to pass up a good deal!

When did you first hear of Scentsy?

The first time I heard of Scentsy was from a friend who messaged me a link to a Michigan warmer from the Scentsy collegiate collection on her Scentsy website. I am a Michigan football fanatic, sorry if your a VOL's fan! I saw it and loved it, the rest is history the warmer is in my living room right now with blueberry cheesecake in it, and I've been in love with our products ever since!

What's you favorite Scentsy Product?

It's hard to pick a favorite product because I love them all, from our hand cream to our drier sheets, but other then my Michigan warmer it would have to be our plug-ins. The are adorable, and fill up not just my bathroom but also wash room and kitchen with just one plug. My favorite scent to go in that plug-in would have to be perfectly pomegranate.

What is your Scentsy Story?
I started my Scentsy journey in April of 2012 and am off to a wonderful start! Having tried other independant consultant companies before I was a bit weary but thought, it's only $99 what do I have to loose, I don't have to buy inventory surely I can at least make that back if I end up not liking it! So imagine my surprise when my first hostess had a 1,000 party and I made 250!!! I have been selling it ever since, and I must admit I'm in love!

What is the Scentsy Story?

Scentsy began with a simple idea — a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles — and quickly grew into one of the most successful direct selling companies in the world. This wickless concept is simply decorative ceramic warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame.

Entrepreneurs Heidi and Orville Thompson encountered the product line at a home show in early 2004, purchased the tiny company, and moved Scentsy to Meridian, Idaho, where the company’s first home office was a 40-foot ocean shipping container on a small sheep farm. The Thompsons were inspired by how fragrance brings powerful emotions and memories to the surface — without the safety risks of a burning candle — and launched Scentsy as a party-plan company that same year.

Scentsy joined the Direct Selling Association (DSA) in 2004 and enrolled its first Independent Consultant. Since then, the company has expanded operations, hired a strong executive team, extended its product line, innovated around the Scentsy business opportunity, and received numerous awards for its growth and ethical business practices. Scentsy was named the number one consumer products company on the 2010 Inc. 500 list, ranked among the top 100 on the 2011 Inc. 500 list, appeared in the 2010 Direct Selling News Global 100 list of top direct selling companies, and received the DSA’s 2010 and 2011 Success Awards and the DSA’s 2009 Rising Star Award.
In less than eight years, Scentsy has generated more than $1 billion in revenue. Today, the company’s family of passionate Independent Scentsy Consultants shares the Scentsy experience and the Scentsy difference throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, and Europe.

Hometown Holler: Artistic Icing

Well the first thing you will notice about Angelica owner of Artistic Icing is her great big  smile, and its evident she is quite the southern gal from her big heart to her cute accent. The second thing you will notice is She is tall, Angel stands 6'2. Angelica is owner, designer, and creative mind behind Artistic Icing. Artistic Icing is  fun and unique jewelry made from old things - inspired by the past and a given a new twist for the future. I sat down with Angelica so my readers could get to know more about her and her jewelry. I am lucky enough to call Angelica a friend, and I promise she is genuine as it comes. I also own several pieces of Artistic Icing, and Angel has brought me to tears with how well she caught the moment I was trying to portray in my jewelry. She puts her heart and soul to every piece of jewelry she makes.Artistic Icing is jewelry like you have never owned before. One of kind original pieces made by a wonderful artist.. What more could you want? Her creativity will having you wanting more and more!

So tell us about yourself:

My name is Angelica but most of you call me Angel ... I am 34 years old and live in the great Mountains of East Tennessee. I feel like I am so blessed to live in a place where beauty is just outside my front door.
I am the mother of 4 boys who rule my world along with being with the best guy that has ever happened to me ... if there is such thing as a Soul mate ... Frankie is mine ... we share SO many common interests ... we laugh ALOT, he never rushes me, and lets me sleep in on the weekends, while he tends to the house full of boys, he fixes everything that is broken without me even asking, and if he is driving me around and I see a picture I missed or wanted to take, he will turn around and go back, and not complain one time. I stay at home and take care of these boys, I make a living creating jewelry that I call Artistic Icing - I take old keys, spoons, and such and turn them into beautiful, wearable pieces of art. I love flea markets, antique stores, and yard sales.I love photography but I will probably never do it again as a job ... as my true calling is the jewelry - I think! - I love all types of music from Johnny Cash to Eminem - I let my kids experience all types of music too - including Eminem ... I love riding the backroads and traveling in general. I have 2 black lab puppies that joined our home a week before Christmas - so I am the queen of this house full of boys! And I love my life!
I am not sure at times how I do it - but I manage to make jewelry in the midst of all the madness - or at 2am in the morning (I am one bone-a-fied NIGHT OWL).

What is one random fact about you?

I could eat pizza every day for the rest of my life and die happy.

Favorite Quotations

Live the Life you Love ... Love the Life you Live - Bob Marley

"Everybody in this car is going to hell, we're all going to hell for the songs we sing ... God gave us a great big apple seed , and he said Don't touch it, don't think about touching it, don't sing about touching it ... don't think about singing about touching it, ... - Jerry Lee Lewis in Walk the Line

Tell us about Artistic Icing:

As an artist my goal is to create a piece of jewelry that is meaningful and unique. My tag line pretty much sums it up – Jewelry that is designed to reflect on the past, live simply in the present, and embrace the future.
Each and every piece is entirely handcrafted by me from start to finish. I use a variety of materials including vintage keys, silver-plated flatware, lace, fabric, buttons, game pieces, beads, charms, glass, copper, nickel, brass and more.
Since each piece is handmade – they are unique and one of a kind.

Why "artistic icing"?

Some people think I am a cake decorator because of the name "Artistic Icing" ... but no - you see Jewelry is the Icing on the body, the final touches that complete the look.

What is your favorite piece? What do you wear the most?

I wear my Every Saint Bracelet every day, I love it ( photo below)

How do you find your items for jewelry?

I am a "picker" - I scour all of the junk tables at flea markets, I am in heaven in an antique store and I look for bargains on the side of the road in the summer months.
I find beauty it everyday items, from vintage keys, to flatware of days gone by, old sewing notions, to game pieces even old dictionaries have made their way into my supply closet.  I love to create things that make for good conversation - that remind us of the past, and create keepsakes that you will cherish.

How do I get Artistic Icing?

Hometown Holler: Dalton Ln. Photography

Jessica Sharpe just recently moved back into the area. And I fell in love with the look of her photography ( and she happens to have a cutie on the spectrum too). So Jessica and I have spent several evenings talking about all kinds of things, including her awesome business.

  • So Jessica, tell us about yourself!
I am a wife, mother and photographer. And while I am many many other things, crafty, creative, a great cook… Those first three are the titles I love the most.
I want to take your child, who you can never get a picture of, and make you speechless. I want you to see your husband who hates having his pictures taken, and know, when that image was shot, there is nowhere else he would rather be than there with you in that moment. I want to capture that! I will not give you the pictures on your Grandmother’s mantel. But I will give you a little piece of art that tells a story, your story.

  •  What made you get into photography?

I, like every other photographer I know, have always loved my camera, but I "got into it" when my husband Jessi deployed for the 2nd time. He was with the 4 Eng BN out of Ft Carson, Colorado. At first I was just getting by everyday. Then they moved him from Iraq to Afghanistan (He was part of one of the largest troop movements in history  and when that happened we were seeing pictures of them everywhere, it was comforting. So I thought if those little snip-its on the news made me feel so much better, even when it wasn't even him we were seeing, just knowing they all were OK was comfort, that he shouldn't miss a second with our boys! I went to the PX bought a camera, and had it with me all the time!

  • What do you feel is your specialty?
Right now I mainly shoot from toddlers to seniors, as well as couples. However I hope to one day specialize in Special Needs Photography, it holds a very big place in my heart!
  •  What makes you stand out from the rest?
My love of kids! They are so fun, I will take two sugared up toddlers running wild during a shoot over a sweet sleeping newborn any day (that's not to say I don't love those newborns all the same, but there is something about a child having fun that gets me every time!)

  • Where does the name came from?
  • We named Dalton Ln after our sweet boys Lane Edward & Dalton Walker!

Dalton Ln Photography is giving away a 45 minute session with 1 8 x10, 2 5x 7's, and 10 % off any additional prints to frugal chicks fans, so make sure you enter! Also stop by Dalton's Ln's facebook page and Tell them THANK YOU from the frugal chicks!
