Crafty Creative Wednesday 4th of July Rag Wreath

I put this little wreath together, super fast, and cheap.... So I had to share of course ;)

All you need is ..
(1) 16" Wire Wreath Form (Hobby Lobby-$2.99 And I used
a 40% off coupon)
(2) Yards Fabric
Scissors if so desired

Start by tearing the fabric into 1" X 6" strips!  I tore 6" strips first and then tore
those strips down into 1" strips!
You will want to "fray" these strips as you go!  You can get the kids involved in
the "tearing" and "fraying" part!  Kids love to be included in craft projects!  Begin your wreath by
tying these strips onto the wire wreath form! Or you can cut them with your scissors if you rather have clean edges.

 Tie the first strip onto the two "outer" wires of the wreath form!  Tie the second
strip to the two "middle" wires and a third strip to the two "inner" wires of the
wreath form.   Continue around until you have the wire wreath from completely covered

Countdown to the 4th: Red, White and Blue Jello Jars

I found this here, and LOVED IT!!  www.southernplate.com So I had to make it :)

Ingredients
  • 3 ounce box Berry Blue Jello
  • 3 ounce box Cherry ( I can't stand cherry so I tried raspberry and it as the bomb) Jello
  • 3.3 ounce box instant white chocolate pudding
  • 6- 8 ounce canning jars with lids
  • Blue Food Coloring
Instructions
  1. In a 2 or 4 cup glass measuring cup, combine one cup boiling water and blue gelatin powder while stirring constantly until dissolved. Add a few drops of blue food coloring until a patriotic blue is reached. Add enough ice to bring the water level up to two cups and stir until ice is completely dissolved. Divide gelatin evenly among the six jars (about 1/3 of a cup in each jar). Can use a canning funnel to make this less messy.
  2. Place jars in original divider box they were purchased in (if you still have it) and put in the refrigerator for about thirty minutes.
  3. Mix up white chocolate pudding according to box. Divide it evenly among jars by spooning it on top of blue layer. Cover jars again and return to the refrigerator for thirty minutes for pudding to set.
  4. Remove gelatin jars from fridge and remove lids. Mix up red gelatin just as you did the blue and carefully spoon on top of white chocolate pudding. All other layers can be poured but this one needs to be spooned on top to avoid disturbing the pudding. Once all red gelatin is used, place lids on jars again and return to the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Still, if this is something you use, they store well, and in most cases Home Depot sells out of these EXTREMELY quickly!

Dirt Cheap 4th of July Burgers

Celebrate the 4th with a Burger Feast! Here are 3 unbelievably juicy burger recipes for your next bbq bash . . . don't serve the same old tired burger, kick it up!

Mom's Recipe:
* 2 pounds lean ground beef
* 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
* 1/2 cup water
* 2 cloves garlic,chopped
* 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
* 1 pinch chili powder
* 1/4 teaspoon ketchup
* 1/4 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
* 1 pinch ground black pepper
* 4 onion roll hamburger buns
* 4 slices pepperjack cheese
* 1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced
* 1 bunch green onions

In a bowl combine beef, soup mix, water, garlic, hot pepper, chili powder, ketchup, mustard and pepper, mixing until incorporated. Form into 4 large burgers, Grill on a hot grill that has been oiled (to prevent sticking). Flip only once! When burgers are nearly done, add a slice of pepperjack cheese.

The easiest way to oil a grill is to place a couple teaspoons of oil on a papertowel and rub it quickly across the grates, be very careful not to get burned. If you prefer, use tongs!

Serve the burger on toasted onion rolls with slices of avocado and green onions.
Burnell Bomb Burgers:
* 2 - 2 1/2 pounds ground beef chuck (80% lean) or Ground Turkey
* 1 egg
* 1/8 cup Worcestershire sauce
* 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
* 1 1/2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
*Sliced red onion & Lettuce

Mix beef (or turkey), eggs, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and onion powder together in a bowl. Separate into 6 equal pieces and form large burgers.

Grill on a hot grill that has been oiled (see the tips above!) - for about 5 minutes per side, flip only once and allow the burger to rest 4 minutes before serving so the juices can return to the meat. Serve on toasted buns with lettuce, tomato and red onion.

The internal temperature should be at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

California burgers:
* 1 pound ground beef
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
* 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
* 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
* 4 hamburger buns, split

Mix beef, garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper and basil. Form into 4 patties, Grill on a hot grill - for about 5 minutes per side, flip only once and allow the burger to rest 4 minutes before serving so the juices can return to the meat. Serve on toasted buns with lettuce, tomato and red onion.

The internal temperature should be at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

Countdown to 4th of July 2012: Independence punch

What you need:

Cranberry Juice
Blue Gatorade Frost
Diet 7-Up
Ice cubes

What to do:

(Either in a Glass or a drink dispenser)

Fill the glass or drink dispenser with Ice.

Pour In the Cranberry Juice.

Next Pour in the Blue Gatorade Frost, BUT make sure that when you're pouring the Blue Gatorade Frost that you pour straight onto some of the ice to gently add the layer. If you pour it directly into the juice it will mix!

Next, pour in the Diet 7up, also pour onto an ice cube to prevent them from mixing.

I suppose you could do this with any color drink combo.

You need to use drinks with varying amounts of sugar, since those that contain more sugar (such as soda) are denser than those with less (such as diet drinks), this makes it possible to actually stack one on top of another.
